Origan
Oregano is one of the plants widely used in herbal medicine (infusions or essential oils). Analgesic, anti-infectious, antiseptic, antibacterial, antioxidant, its therapeutic virtues, in particular to fight against pathogenic germs, are recognized.
Rich in tannins, phenols (apigenin and luteolin) which give it anti-inflammatory and anti-infectious properties. The flavonoids in oregano, along with one of its main components, rosmarinic acid, have a powerful antioxidant power that helps fight oxidative stress and aging and may have a hypoglycemic effect.

Internal use
Treats bloating and flatulence, improves transit and relieves digestive and intestinal disorders. Aperitif effect.
External use
Treats wounds, bites and burns, itching of the skin (fungi, eczema, skin irritations). Analgesic, it treats migraines and rheumatism.
Improves the condition of the respiratory tract in cases of asthma, bronchitis, colds and nasopharyngitis.
Usual therapeutic indications
Digestive and carminative: oregano eliminates gas and ventosities. It relieves intestinal problems: transit, colic, etc. It improves appetite in sick people. Analgesic: it greatly reduces inflammatory pain, migraines, rheumatism, toothaches. Antiseptic and antibacterial: oregano helps fight against the development of fungi, fungi, viruses and other bacteria. It relieves in cases of insect bites and all skin irritations. Stimulating and exciting: oregano is cardiac tonic and is used in cases of fatigue or asthenia. Antitussive: it is used in cases of chronic bronchitis and cough, asthma and whooping cough.

Oregano is also a powerful antispasmodic: it is used in painful periods, colic, gastric and esophageal spasms. Antioxidant: its dried leaves have a high TAC (Total Antioxidant Capacity) index, in the order of 2000 micromoles, which is more than strawberries or oranges.

Precautions for use of oregano
Oregano is classified in the list of medicinal plants traditionally used in the French pharmacopoeia. However, it is always better to seek the advice of your doctor before using any medicinal plant for therapeutic purposes. Oregano should be used with caution in people with sensitive conditions: allergy, strong drug treatment, etc.
Contraindications
Not recommended for people with allergies, oregano and lamiaceae in general containing a compound (linalool) strongly allergenic in sensitive areas.
Side effects
With essential oils, an overdose can lead to breathing difficulties or heart problems.
Interactions with medicinal plants or supplements
No known interaction.
Drug interactions
Due to its vitamin K content, oregano can inhibit blood thinners. The herbal forms of oregano are also not recommended during treatments with triple therapy and chemotherapy.
