Marginatocereus marginatus - Plant in Ø 25 Cm Pot
The Cereus peruvianus is a large columnar cactus of green to bluish or dark green color, which can reach a height of about ten meters in its natural habitat.
The Cereus peruvianus is a branched cactus of green to bluish green or dark color whose base can reach about twenty centimeters in diameter. Its ribs, between 5 and 9, are quite deep and erect brownish or brown areoles that bear short (1 centimeter maximum) and rigid spines, spaced about 2 centimeters apart. The areoles carry more numerous and longer spines at the top of the plant, towards the apex, which also has down of the same color as the areoles.
The flowering of this columnar cactus occurs at night in summer and offers ephemeral flowers (only one night) of about fifteen centimeters when the cactus is old enough (at least 5 years old). The white, cup-shaped flowers then give way to fleshy fruits, filled with a multitude of seeds. The fruit of Cereus peruvianus is red to yellow in color and contains a white pulp and black seeds.
