Aloe vera is a species of aloe (genus Aloe) of uncertain origin but cultivated for a long time in the Mediterranean region, North Africa, the Canary Islands and Cape Verde. It is recognized by its thick, blue leaves that can reach 60 centimeters in height and its yellow or orange flowers arranged in spikes. It is considered a depolluting plant.

Cultivation of Aloe vera

  • Substrate and soil type:Aloe vera needs more or less rich soil. If grown in a pot, drain the bottom of the aloe vera pot well with gravel or other small pebbles.
  • Watering and humidity: Aloe vera is very resistant to drought, however, water as soon as the soil seems dry or the leaves tend to fall back. Never over-water your Aloe vera plant, the risk of rotting may appear.
  • Exposure and light: Aloe vera must be exposed to full sun (risk of reddening of the leaves) or partial shade.
  • Temperature and exposure: Aloe vera grows very well when the temperature varies from 20°c to 40°c.
