Tree spurge is a succulent plant from the Euphorbiaceae family, native to South Africa.

Quantity:

Tree Spurge can reach up to 15 m in height in its natural environment, and has an upright and very branched habit. Its quadrangular and swollen stems allow it to store water and nutrients to help it survive the most scorching conditions.

Flowering of tree spurge occurs only on older trees. Yellow and green male and female flowers then settle at the top of its stems. The fruiting body takes the form of capsules with 3 cells, each of which contains a seed that is smooth, grayish brown, and mottled with pale brown.

Planting cactus spurge

- Fill a pot with special potting soil for cacti and succulents. Failing that, compose a substrate with sand, potting soil and garden soil in equal parts.

- Provide a good layer of drainage at the bottom of the pot (gravel or clay pebbles).

- Once the euphorbia is in place, install the pot in a bright position, but without direct sunlight.

- Fully moisten the substrate and let it dry out between waterings.

Cultivation and maintenance of Euphorbia cactus

Tree spurge requires a lot of light to thrive. This succulent needs very little water. Indeed, it is perfectly adapted to drought and does not support stagnant humidity. In fact, Euphorbia must be grown in well-drained soil. A pot with a hole in the bottom is essential.

Diseases and pests

Stagnant moisture can cause root rot in cactus spurge. Spurges can be subject to scale insect attacks.

Watering the cactus tree spurge

It is watered lightly during the growth period, taking care to let the substrate dry out for a few days between each watering. These regular water supplies, but in small quantities, allow it to develop well.
